Chapter 1

“Wooyoung! 5 more minutes” One of the Head directors said, as I was getting ready for another hosting for SBS inkigayo. Doing the same routine every show got me quite bored. Hosting here, Hosting there, Performing here, Performing there, then giving the award to the winner. Being an Idol is a hard job, So you really have to keep your image stable.

“Ok done!” My make-up artist said. I stood up, Checked my outfit a bit and swiftly walked out of the dressing room. As I walked through the hallways, I passed by different dressing rooms of other artists. There was the dressing room of Girl’s Generation, All of it’s make-up artist were runnning back and forth across their room, trying to make their 9 girls pretty. I can’t count how many times those girls have to look into the mirror, checking their lip gloss, cheking their hair. I also passed by the dressing room of FT Island, Instead of seeing Panicking make-up artists, I heard guitar strums, and there they were practicing a bit for their performance. I even heard something about ‘lip-synching’. But yeah, I didn’t care, It wasn’t my bussiness anyway. Some artists are not what you think they are in reality. Like me.

I went backstage, 2 more minutes were left before the show starts. One of the head directors instructed me to do an interview with Girls Generation before they perform, I acted like I was delighted to do an interview with them. The head director left, then I rolled my eyes. I was on stand-by, 1 more minute left. I wondered where my co-host was? Taecyeon.

“Uhm, Excuse me? Do you know where director Kim is?” a soft voice behind me said. I glanced off my shoulder to see a girl with long brownish hair, perfect eye-line, in a very weird out fit. Then I remembered, It’s ‘palm-tree hair girl’, 2NE1′s Sandara Park. They debuted not long ago, but I still don’t know them well yet, I wonder what hidden attitudes these girls hide I thought to myself. I forced out a smile “I was talking to him a while ago, just wait for him he’ll be back. You’re 2NE1′s Sandara Park right?” I said. She smiled because I knew her name, newbies are annoying to me. “I never thought you’d know my name, we’re just new”.

“Yea, you guys are getting popular, you have a catchy song though” I said. I just hope she won’t use my words to boast about. I was already thinking that she might tell other artists that Wooyoung of 2PM praised 2NE1. “Uhm, May I ask what’s your name?” She said. I was shocked that all this time she didn’t knew who I am.

“Wooyoung-sshi! on the stage now!” One of the staff shouted. I was bewildered and suddenly ran to the stage, ignoring ‘palm-tree hair’ girl.

Five, Four, Three, Two, One….and the camera starts rolling. “Annyeong Haseyo! Welcome to Inkigayo! I’m Wooyoung of 2PM…” I kinda emphasized my name, and hoped that Dara heard. “Even though my co-host, Taecyeon-sshi, isn’t with us today, that doesn’t mean the program won’t go on” I wondered where that bastard went off to, leaving me hosting alone “I know you’re all excited to see our guests for today. We have Girl’s Generation, SHINee, FT Island, Brown Eyed Girls, Davichi and the most anticipated 2NE1!” and there goes the crowd.

The show ended as soon as I expected, Again, I’ve done the same routine but without Taecyeon. I decided to call him to check where he was, I dialled his numbers as I went to the corner of the hallway.

“Yeoboseyo?” Taecyeon said with a cracky voice. I guess that guy overslept again.
“Yaaaah!”
“Oh sup Wooyoung?” He said.
“Aisssht! Don’t ‘Sup Wooyoung’ me! Taecyeon sshi!~” I shouted, while other people looked at me, I just smiled at them in embarrasment.
“Weyo? Why are you shouting at me?” He said still confused.
“Way to go! You left me here in Inkigayo hosting alone!”
“Is there Inkigayo today!? Aissshht! I forgot! Mianhe Wooyoung-sshi~” He said as I hung up. Damn am I pissed off.

I turned around and saw Dara looking at me, I wonder what that girl’s problem was. I smiled at her pretendingly and said “Oh, hey there, sorry about what happened back then before the show started, I was already in a hurry so~….” I was cut off. “So you’re Wooyoung of 2PM….” She said looking hardly at me. “Yes I am.” I replied and flashed another fake smile at her. “You looked kinda pissed off just when you’re on the phone, Can I help you with something?” She said. I found it funny that she butts in to people’s business like that.
I forced out a laugh and said “Anio, that’s okay, it’s nothing….”

“Oh…I’m really sorry that I didn’t knew your name, I haven’t been familiarizing myself to other idols yet” She said slightly bowing. I tried to look at her face, then she suddenly tilted her head. Our eyes met…I noticed that she has unique eyes….I stared at her for a short while, then I shook my head, wondering why the heck am I staring at her.
“That’s fine, I really don’t expect people to know me. To tell you the truth I really don’t like attention” I stopped for a moment and thought…Did I just tell her a random fact about me? I decided to end our conversation, I might tell her more facts about me, if our conversation continued. “Uhm so yea, I gotta go, It was nice meeting you by the way” I said and we bowed to each other.

As I turned away, I smirked a bit. I was walking away as these question entered my mind…I wonder how will you deal with the crazy life of being an Idol, Sandara Park? Do you really think i’m a nice guy? and most of all Why do I feel somewhat uncomfortable when you’re around?
